One of several 'gift items' that we produce on a lathe are these turned bottle stoppers.  The base is solid 316 Stainless Steel.  They're also available in chrome, copper, and brass plating.  However, the plating is prone to chipping and peeling over time, so we always recommend the stainless stoppers.

Here's a set of four wooden burl stoppers.  From the left, they are 'California Redwood Burl', 'Maple Burl', 'Ambrosia Maple', and 'Walnut Burl'.

   

Here's a close-up showing some of the grain in those burls.

The stand was made from a solid piece of Ambrosia Maple finished in the same lacquer used on the stoppers.
