I should have broken ground on the new shop by now.  We have the land mostly cleared, the wood mostly split and stacked, and I'm getting really anxious to get working.  But, we came up with a perfectly valid reason/excuse to postpone ground breaking.

We wanted a SPA!  A nice therapeutic spa would be such a delightful way to conclude a long day of construction, (said Denise...).  And who am I to argue with that logic?

Well, a new spa wouldn't fit on the existing deck, so that meant...we needed a new deck!

Total construction time was a little over a week.  It was a challenging project, and gave me a chance to brush up on my construction skills in preparation for the shop.  It also gave me a good preview into what I'll be facing building the shop (mostly) alone.  Denise helped set the posts, but I did the rest while she was at work.  All that's left is to stain the new deck to match the existing deck and house.  I have to wait a while though for the new pressure treated wood to dry out.  I'll try to remember to post pictures once I get the stain on.
